This historic inn located in Chester, New York was built by John Yelverton in 1765. During the Revolutionary War, it was a gathering place that hosted the likes of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr and where local voters chose Henry Wisner of Goshen to represent New York in the First Continental Congress. In July 1782, George Washington slept here while en route back to his Newburgh headquarters.
