Where

On this location was the 1780 tavern of Martin Weigand (a direct descendant of Newburgh’s original German Palatine settlers). Weigand’s Tavern was at one point a center of political life in Newburgh. It was a popular hang for Revolutionary War soldier as well as a hotel and a meeting hall. The current structure there is not the structure Weigand built, but preservation efforts are currently underway to preserve it.
