This abandoned school in the Orange County Town of Newburgh, New York was built from the generosity of Annie Delano-Hitch, a former Newburgh local and aunt to Franklin Roosevelt. She gave the money to have this school built in 1897 and it served the community’s children for decades, but closed its doors more than 30 years ago. There’s been talk over the years of demolishing it because of its structural instability, but it still stands quietly beside the new Balmville School.

Know Before You Go..
