Where

This historic restaurant started in the 1890’s as a rooming house for workers in the mills of Sloatsburg until around 1950.

Around 1904, the ground floor of the building was converted into a restaurant around by Henry and Kathleen Tobin.

For nearly 50 years, the Gleenwood flourished as a restaurant for fine dining, but with the opening of the New York State Thruway, travelers were diverted away from the Orange Turnpike.

Today, the location is the home of Characters Bar and Restaurant, an Irish style pub.
