This historic site in the Town of Newburgh, New York is where Eleazor Gidney’s grist mill stood before it was destroyed by fire. The Gidney’s had a mill at this site going back to the early 1800s, but both were destroyed by fire. Though the mill is gone, the Gidneys are still remembered by the name of the street, Gidney Avenue, and also by the name of the surrounding area called Gidneytown.
