Where

This historic house in Feura Bush, New York was built circa 1755 by Gerrit Van Zandt. Also know as “Oriskatach,” Van Zandt purchased land from Stephen Van Rennselaer in the foothills of the Heldeberg Mountain Range and built this house beside the Onesquethaw Creek.

During the French and Indian War, the house was partially fortified with bars on the lower windows. Inside were quartered as many as one hundred British soldiers.

The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
