This historic house in Hastings-on-Hudson is named Forge Cottage because it used to be a blacksmith shop. During the Revolutionary War, while the British occupied Manhattan, Westchester County became contested neutral territory. During that time, this 18th-century blacksmith shop served both sides, shoeing horses for both the British and Americans. In 1907 it was renovated into a private residence.
