Where

Ellis Island was the U.S.’s busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 to 1954 and processed approximately 12 million immigrants. You can visit the museum and tour the facilities as well as tour the abandoned contagious disease hospital. The hospital has been abandoned since 1954, but in 2014, French artist JR created an exhibit within its abandoned halls, using historical images of Ellis Island immigrants.
