Where

This lost historic site in Coeymans, New York was the house of Barent Pieterse Coeymans. Coeymans came from Holland to Rensselaerwyck in 1639 and worked in grist and saw mills before buying a tract of land from the local Native Americans in 1673. Around that same time, he built this house, the very first one in Coeymans, New York. Coeymans Castle would survive at the corner of First and Westerlo streets until 1833, when it was torn down.
