This historic academy building in Bedford, New York was built in 1807. From 1809 to 1902, it operated as one of Westchester’s first classical schools. Some of the notable individuals who went here were the first United States Cardinal, John McCloskey; John Jay II, grandson of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United States; and railroad magnate, William H. Vanderbilt.

After closing in 1903, it was opened as a library.
