Where

In the early morning hours of November 13, 1974, Ron DeFeo Jr. murdered his parents, two younger brothers, and two sisters at this house in the quiet Long Island suburb of Amityville. Thirteen months later, the Lutz family moved in and spent less than a month in the house before abandoning it. The family claimed to have been terrorized by evil spirits, the story of which has become the basis for The Amityville Horror book and films. Much of the claims made in the book have been dismissed as a hoax to garner sales, but Kathy Lutz son, Christopher Quaratino, still maintains that the haunting he experienced as a seven year old was very real. Quaratino dismisses the book and films as inaccurate, but insists that his family did experience paranormal activity while living in the house. Activity that he believes was the result of his stepfather dabbling in occult practices while living there.
