Where

This cemetery was nearly forgotten until an 1867 deed was discovered in the 1990’s. One hundred or more slaves, freed African Americans and their descendants have been interred here with the earliest going back to the mid 18th century when German Palatine settlers brought slaves to the area. Since its discovery, the cemetery has been restored and rededicated. An explanatory plaque (second image) sheds more light on the area’s history of slavery.
