Reformed Church of Beacon

Frederick Clarke Withers, the architect responsible for the nearby Craig House and Poughkeepsie’s Hudson River State Hospital, designed this Victorian Gothic church which was built in 1859. It is notable for being Beacon’s oldest church and also for the Founding Father who was buried in its crumbling cemetery. William Few, representative of Georgie and signer of the Constitution died in Beacon and was buried here until 1973, when Georgia asked for him back.
