Highland Cottage

This High Victorian Gothic Revival house was built in 1872 for Ossining industrialist H.J. Baker. Baker brought in specially trained workers from England to construct the house using concrete, resulting in the house being nicknamed the “Mud House.” In the years since, it has been the home of Sing Sing Prison’s chief physician, a sanitarium, and a restaurant. Today, it is once again privately owned.
